…Sometimes we get lazy and let our friends run shows in the gallery. In these cases we aren’t accepting the submissions for the shows, we want it all to run through the appropriate person. Again, if you read the Artist Call you will see that the contact information will be different and that will be your point of contact for those shows…

After the show closes we would like to get your art back in your hands as quickly as possible. We don’t have much in the way of unused storage space here. That being said if your work stays here for more then 1 month after the show it will be hung in the hallways of the adjacent 1022 building. It will remain on display there until it is collected. We can take no responsibility for this works loss, or damage.
We don’t take a specific commission on sales. We don’t really promote the selling of art. If your work sells, great, if you sell work and would like to give some money back to the gallery even better. If you aren’t willing to give back to us monetarily that is fine, but if you could help us prep for the next show, paint, flyer, or in some way give back to the space.
We have an interesting studio environment. We mount art on Drywall, Concrete, hang from the ceiling, and use pedestals…After you have been juried into a show you will be contacted with details about when you can come down to hang or have your work hung…We are happy to assist you hanging your work, or hang your work for you, we have levels, drills, anchors, ladders, etc…The utmost care will be given to your work, but this space is a multi-use facility, meaning that we occasionally strike a show for a studio rental etc. The show will be set or re-set until its closing date.
We love submissions via snail mail, lets keep those ponies fed! Please feel free to send us samples, etc. But please don’t enclose your original work for jurying…Everything will be returned with SASE or available for up-picking here. Our Mailing address and physical address are the same, 1022 1st Ave South, Seattle WA 98134. Please include the same subject line somewhere on your package so we know that it isn’t anthrax.
All work should be submitted to juryingsucks @ ouchmyeye DOT com and the subject line is dictated by the show…Please read the artist call fully to get all the pertinent details. Common Sense applies, if you wanna submit a movie please just send us a link, but if you have a painting please attach a jpeg of it and not a link to your site of 40 paintings…You can include descriptions of processes, and explanations, but the work will be juried on its own, as it would be shown.
Ouch My Eye doesn’t represent an artist, or a genre…We are open to all people…but it’s better if your last name isn’t Chihuly. Our Shows are juried, by us, but blind…so your name and your work aren’t associated. We jury work based upon its relevance to the themes of our shows. A pretty flower picture or painting is probably not going to be accepted, no matter how well it was done, unless we are having a Hallmark Card show…which is a good idea, but not in the works currently…So please think about the themes, push yourself out there beyond to break water of acceptable and pasteurized art…and bring it!
1022 1st Avenue South.
In the Stadium District of Seattle, WA.
Just north of Safeco Field on 1st Ave.
